Knaben Hikers
Last weekend we went to Knaben with our friends Thorhild and Aadne, and their two kids Therese and Vegard. Knaben is located in the mountains south of Sirdal, and we've visited there a couple of times before.
Thorhild and Aadne's cabin is only a couple of years old, and very well equipped. There is electricity and indoor plumbing, 4 bedrooms, pantry, drying room, a big hallway and a combined living-room/kitchen.
Friday evening Thorhild made pizza for us, and Saturday we went for a hike in the mountains. The weather was beautiful; sunny, no wind a only a couple of degrees above freezing. We stopped for lunch by a small stream and made pancakes. Afterwards we climbed to the top of the mountain (about 900 m), and got the picture just as the sun set. We made it back to Knaben village as it was getting dark, stopping at a little pond to let Therese have a dip. Yep. 12 year old girl that stripped, got in to her neck, and jumped out again. Crazy!
We had veal, wine and enjoyable company in the evening, and Sunday morning we went for another hike. The weather was not as nice, so we didn't bring any lunch. After hiking for 3 hours we got back to the cabin, made dinner, ate and cleaned up before heading home again. Great weekend with great friends!
