Oh thank you so much for your support everyone! They won 5-0! Five! That's a lot of goals in soccer. 5-0 is the kind of victory you'll hear of maybe once every other year in the top divisions. 5-0 is a thrashing.
I can safely say that I'll remember yesterday evening for many, many years from now. Viking's new, enormous stadium is sold out. In order to stay in the top division we needed the teams around us to lose, and we needed to beat this year's silver medalist. By a lot. It seems hopeless, and yet hopelesser when our goal keeper gets injured while warming up! The field is muddy, the rain pours down, we need to win. Hopelessness pushes it self towards new boundaries when we should have had a penalty kick, but the referee doesn't see it!
Soon things luckily started looking better. 1-o! The teams around us start losing. 2-0! The whistle goes for half time, 16 000 spectators clap Viking out on the pitch fifteen minutes later. 3-0! 4-0! One more goal and we'll make it... 5-0!! And four of them by the same guy! What an amazing game. A few minutes after the game the whole stadium fell silent waiting for the last, deciding game to finish. When it did, the entire crowd broke out cheering, players and coaches and important people in suits ran out on the field laughing and crying and jumping on to each other. 5-0! The atmosphere amazing, you'd have thought we'd won the gold, and as one of the players stated in todays paper: "It felt strange to be so happy for 11th place". But it wasn't only 11th place, it was the best game I've ever seen. It beats the cup trophy in 2001, it beats the Chelsea-victory in 2002. It's a game I'll remember for a long, long time.
5-0!!
