Christmas

It's December 26th and we have had a fine Christmas. Jorunn and Thomas have been in Sandnes since Monday and it was great to spend time with them,. Today they returned to Sweden, taking Arnlaug back with them.
We have had a white Christmas here and it makes such a difference. It seems as if the whole of Sandnes is in a holiday mood.

True to tradition, we had rice porridge at our house in the early afternoon on Christmas eve. Then in the evening the four of us went up to Arnlaugs house for the traditional Christmas dinner of pinnekjøtt before opening gifts. The smell of cooking pinnekjøtt that greeted us as we opened the door to Arnlaugs warm and cosey house was only bettered by the hugs and Christmas greetings given by Jorunn, Thomas and Arnlaug.

We had a delightful evening with good food, beautiful gifts and fun games in the evening.

Yesterday, we had the entire Haaland gang at our house for dinner. Knut prepared a koldtbord with smoked salmon, gravlax, scrambled eggs, cold pork ribs, "fenalår", christmas sausages and meat balls, sauerkraut, stewed prunes, bread, flat bread, several types of cheeses and good wine and akavit.

It was a feast fit for a king made by a king! We were 14 people and everyone served themselves in the kitchen before sitting in the livingroom to eat. It was a delightful evening. We played games in the evening again and had a lot of fun.

-Merry Christmas, Reb
