This weekend we went up to the cabin with Linda, Kjetil, Wenche and Kjell Lauritz. What a great weekend! It was quite cold, around ten below (celcius) and there was no new snow. So lots of the snow from earlier had melted and what was left was hard as a rock. There was no use for skis, but the new snow shoes were just brilliant. The cleats under them made walking very easy.
Saturday evening Wenche made a delicious stew of red deer that Kjell had caught. What a treat. Six people could eat and live there easily. Linda and Kjetil in the attic and Wenche & Kjell in the guest room. Nice to know the cabin will work well with so many people.
We had nice relaxing mornings with coffee and good breakfasts. Then we packed a lunch, filled the thermos, got dressed and went outside. The weather was beautiful with clear blue skies and crisp cold air. We could see for miles.
Both days we went for long hikes, Knut and I on snow shoes, Linda, Wenche & Kjell with hiking boots and poles and Kjetil had randonee skis. We were out for 3 or 4 hours each day and covered about 10 kilometers each day. It was beautiful! The nights were starry and clear but too cold to stat out long.
For the first weekend of r&r I don't think things could have been much better! Well, ok- it could have been perfect skiing too, but I'm not complaining!!
