Spring in Hunnedalen

The ski season was short even though there was loads of snow all winter long. The problem was the bad weather. Before Easter there were only a few days where we could see enough to ski at all. Either it was so windy we could barely stand upright or the overcast skies were such that we couldn't see the snow at all.
Then came Easter.
10 days and incredible weather almost every day. We went on one looong ski hike after the other and used all the sun block we had - and still turned deep brown.
Just when I didn't think life could get much better, the kids came home for short visits. First one home was Thomas who came home from a four month trip starting in India and ending in Japan.
He was home for almost two weeks and we had some lovely days at the cabin together. The weather was spectacular again and the ski trips were just as good.
Even after May 1st we have had a few nice days skiing and Knut knows the Kvernvass area like the back of his hand!

Linda came home after the May 17th weekend. A whirlwind 5 days filled with Wenche's 50th party, Ida's bachelorette party, lots of good food and even a trip to the gym.
It's the end of May now after almost three weeks without being at the cabin. We were hoping for one last ski trip this weekend, but alas, the snow is pretty much gone. There are patches all around and the lake is still 1/2 covered. At first I thought - too bad, so sad there's no more snow. But then I put on my hiking boots and walked on solid ground again. Weee, it felt so good too! What a great feeling.
Today we went up to the lake all prepared to catch fish. Even had the primus with us, but the fish didn't seem to agree with our plans. Still, it's a beautiful day and we love it here!
