What a weekend!
We have just got back from four long days of hiking in the mountains. We left Thursday afternoon and got back Sunday evening.
On Thursday we didn't get going before around seven o'clock in the evening, but it doesn't get dark very fast here, and it was nice and warm, so it wasn't much of a problem. We walked for about two hours, before we found a nice, mosquito-filled bog to "camp" in. We managed to set up two tents, make and eat dinner in record time, but the bugs were so bad that we just had to hurry and get to bed.
The next morning the sun was shining and it was really warm, but we just packed up and walked for twenty minutes before eating breakfast, just to get out of the bugs. It was a long and sunny day of hiking through Kvisladalen, where Daddy, Cornell and I hiked two years ago (gosh, is it that long!). We spent the night at the cabin at Støle. After a whole day of beautiful weather, the rain started pouring down half an hour after we got to the cabin. Super lucky!
We managed to sleep until half past ten way up in the mountains, and didn't get going before one o'clock the next day. The sun was warmer than ever, and we went swimming in a lake. It wasn't cold, just lovely! We had plenty of time to put up camp in a beautiful spot by an old sheep herder's cabin, by a nice stream, with a lovely breeze to keep away bugs. Some contrast from the first night! What a PERFECT day!
By morning the breeze was gone, though, and the bugs were nearly as bad as they were in the bog the first morning. As we got going it got better, but it started to rain and we had a drizzle all day, but it was quite nice to cool off a bit after two 25C days.
We had four days of great camping, beautiful views, wonderful weather, swimming in lakes and rivers, a trip to remember for life!
