This weekend we were invited to Jørpeland by our friends, Njål and Anne Marie. We stayed in the house where Njål grew up and had a great time. The four of us were there along with Njål, Anne Marie, their daughter Tea who is Linda's age and two dogs. It only takes about an hour to get there, so we were in quite early on Friday evening. Anne Marie made a delicious fish soup for dinner on Friday and it was warm enough to sit outside that evening and eat and enjoy the view.Saturday turned out to be a fantastic day and we were outside all day long. First we had coffee and a long breakfast out in the yard. Then, after a quick stop for some fresh strawberries, we headed up a river where the guys could take a nice run and the girls could lay on the rocks in the warm sunshine. Anne Marie and I took a long walk through the woods, following the trail the guys ran. It was warm, sunny and the spot on the rocks by the river was just enchanting.
The ice cold river tumbled down the rocks into small pools that were just right for swimming - for the vikings that is. It was far to cold for several of us, but the tough ones went swimming. Their dogs, Buffy, a 6 year-old black lab, and Nemi, a 8 week old puppy were so cute and we all fell in love with both of them. Buffy went swimming with Njål and Knut while we just dared to dip our toes into the cold water!
Later that afternoon we went down to the shore where we played "kubb" and volleyball. We all got a bit sunburned even though we used a fair amount of suncream that day!Knut made a yummy dinner of lamb filets and new potatoes that evening. We sat outside until late into the night enjoying our time together.
Today the weather turned overcast and rainy, but we had nothing to complain about. We packed, washed out the house and came home. It's nice to be home a bit early too, so we can get ready for the coming week after a delightful weekend with good friends!
