Hardangervidda expedition

Summer vacation had started, and Linda and Kjetil spent ten gorgeous days hiking across Hardangervidda National Park. It was a 14 hour train ride to get to the starting point, Finse. We got there around noon in overcast, drizzly weather, and hiked for a few hours. We were tired from the train ride, but still made good time up to the first camp at 1380 meters above sea level. The next day brought gorgeous weather with it, and we had a spectacular day.

We didn't really ever get into any trouble during the trip, though one of the rivers we were planning to wade was a total disaster. The current was way to strong and the rocks were too slippery. We walked up and down, looking for a spot to cross for almost an hour, but nothing showed up. We made camp and had a great night, planning our next day. It turned into an eleven hour hike, thirteen miles and a huge dinner when we finally made camp again the next day.

All together we spent eight nights in our tent, and hiked 12 norwegian "mil" (75 miles) starting with 20kg and 25kg backpacks (44lbs and 55lbs).
Despite the changing weather, we had a fantastic trip. What an adventure - thank you, Kjetil!
