Apple pressing

We had loads of apples this year, but there were worms in all the good eating apples! We don't spray them at all and I was wondering if that was a mistake this year, but I was releived to hear that everyone had the same problem this year.

So we found a farm that will press apples and give us juice from our own apples back and decided to try it. It turned out great and we got 60 liters of apple juice back! It's all in 2 1/2 liter plastic jugs and in the freezer at Arnlaug's. As soon as we're finished with the kitchen we'll have lots of space in our own freezer for it all!

We put all the apples in this end of the facinating machine. They are laying in water where they get rinsed off before being fed up the chute to the grinder.

The ground apples are going into the centrifuge.

The finished juice has been filtered three times before being poured into the jugs.

Knut is helping her pour the juice in the background, and you see the remains coming out of the machine in the foreground. It was as dry as cardboard!

So now we have enough apple juice for a whole year! Yummy.
