Day 20
This is probably the first April fools day I have experienced when there was no mention of tricks or jokes. I guess no one could imagine anything we could say that was more strange than what is really happening in the world.
For us, it was just another day at work, working from home is just fine. A bit tiresome only having one screen to use, but you get used to it rather quick, and it beats driving to work every morning.
The weather wasn't the best so we decided to park at Gramstad again and go in towards Kubben to see how things looked. It was slightly rainy and we really had no good plan.
It only takes a few minutes to get to Kubben and once there we just kept going. We passed the pond and found ourselves on our way to Vassfjellet. I had been there on the 7-nuts hikes, but Knut hadn't been there before. It wasn't raining all that heavily and when we got to the top the sun barely peeked out, just enough to give us some nice lighting for pictures.
Then the fog came back and cut out the view again
And then it peeked out one last time

Day 21
The weather today was shitty to say the least. I recall sending more than one snap of the wind and rain. Since I'm writing this several days after April 2nd, I don't remember anything except that we went for a run in Sanvedparken after work.
The heading in Stavanger Aftenblad stated that the prognosis for July is 300 people in the hospital because of cover-19.

Day 22
No hike after work today either - no siren. Today we were to make tacos with Patti and Cornell and have another party. It's fun having something to look forward to. We found some refried beans in the freezer and still had corn tortillas, so - party time.
It was lots of fun, Patti had already fried their tacos outside, so we chopped, mixed and fried while chatting away. The food tasted so good and it was even better having the company.
After dinner we moved to the living room chairs and had some quiz questions then we even played cribbage! We dealt the deck in two arbitrary piles, Knut and I had one pile and Patti and Cornell had the other. They pegged and it went really well. Next time we should do it sober.

Day 23
So after an evening like that we had to take it easy this morning. It didn't really matter since it was raining again today. But by late afternoon, we were ready to go for another walk. This time we went to Sygno in Sviland.
It's always nice to be at the top of Sygno

Day 24
We went for a walk with Wenche and Kjell again today. It is so nice to have company! Today's hike went to Dalevatn, Jødestadsfjellet and along the ridge to the Resastein. It was a delightful day; no rain, lots of pretty skies and not too much wind.

The climb from Dalevatn to Jødestadsfjellet was both steep and steep. It's always fun to get to the top. The view was great today and we could see for miles and miles.

From Jødestadsfjellet we followed the ridge up and down from top to top. There were lots of people out today, no wonder, this is a beautiful place.
On the way to Resastein there are remains from a crashed plane from the war.
On the way home we found the right trail back to Dale. Not like the night we came back with headlamps on and found ourselves on the other side of a fence we had to crawl over!

Day 25
A new week of working from home and the sun was shining all day. Every now and then during the day we sat outside on the porch for a few minutes, eating lunch, having a cup of coffee or just taking a break. We were starved for warmth and sunshine as much as we were starved for company. So when the day ended, even though the forecast said we would have sinking temps, wind and rain, we changed into hiking clothes and headed to Alsvik where we planned on taking a hike up and around Skrussfjellet. In spite of the forecast, we didn’t manage to dress properly. I don’t know what it is with human brains, but when the sun is shining and the sky is blue, it’s so hard to put on wool underwear, rain pants and a rain jacket.
So we were off. Parking at Alsvik again after so many years was a kind of blast from the past. We had had so many nice days here when the kids were small, with Bjørn and Arnlaug and with the Swedes. Seeing all the families there that day showed that it is still a popular place for families.
We started off through the woods down to the lake, Kyllesvatnet and the rain started before we were out of the woods. The trail went along the water a short way before turning east and following some mountain sides. By then it was getting windy as well. After we passed the mountain sides we could see Skrussfjellet on the right. We crossed a field and came to the sign pointing us up towards Skrussfjellet. The wind was really strong crossing the field and even made me unsteady when climbing over the fence steps.
As we stood there looking up at Skrussfjellet, soaking wet from top to toe and ice cold because of the wind, we decided that “det er ingen skam å snu” (there’s no shame in turning around) which is one of the ten rules of safe hiking/sking in Norway. We checked the map, trying to see if we could just go straight, off the marked trail and get back to Alsvik even earlier, but we were unsure of how steep the terrain was and decided to play it safe. So with a smile on our faces, we turned around and hightailed it back to Alsvik.
The return trip didn’t seem half as long and once we were back in the woods, protected from the wind, everything seemed better. Back at the car, we took off as much of our wet clothes as we could and drove home. As cold as I was outside, I really got chilled to the bone sitting still in the car. As soon as we got home I took a long hot shower and finally get some warmth back in me. What a hike!

Day 26
The weather today was a continuation of the rain and cold from yesterday. Easter starts tomorrow and we had planned on taking Wednesday off to get a load delivered to the cabin while there is still enough snow for Inge Marton to drive it up with the snowmobile. So after work we spent time packing the car. We had new furniture for the porch, lots of clean towels and stuff, some food and three boxes of the wine glasses with pewter stems that we have decided to use up there.
I made a vegetarian dinner of corn chowder. That’s about it.
