Day 10
After a nice break yesterday, we were ready for another good hike today. Since it was Sunday we could start earlier and take a long hike. We parked at the farm at Åreskjold.
This hike was beautiful from the first ten minutes of the walk. The farmers there are so kind to let a public trail go right through their yard. The hike was very easy for quite a while and it would be nice to bring Arnlaug here. We headed to Grimslifjellet first.

After Grimslifjellet we went the round-trip hike to Dyranuten. That part of the hike went over fields and through land that was dug up and muddy. We stopped by a little lake to eat lunch before heading up to Dyranut. The view was nice from that top and we met a local who lives there and knew the place well. Very nice lady with her neighbours dog.

Day 11
Another week of working from home has started. The news is only about the virus, the FaceBook feed is only about the virus and every conversation starts with comments about the virus. The economic consequences of this lock down will be enormous. I guess most people in the world will be dividing their life up into before and after Corona.
We talk to the kids almost every day, I have finally accepted that none of them are coming home during the lockdown. It's strange how much easier it is to just accept some things than go around and hope that it will be different.
Jorunn sent som beautiful and happy snaps from her walk yesterday so we decided to try that area. We parked by Skjelbreitjøna and took the trail towards Sulken, walking along the lake. It was quite windy and after we passed the lake and started heading up, we saw all the construction for the windmill park they're putting up. It didn't make for a very pretty hike and after we came to the little pond, Stemtjørnet we decided to call it an evening.

Day 12
I don't know how long I'll count the days, but it is nice to keep track of the hikes we've taken since all this started. Now that we've set the clocks on summer time, we have more daylight after work for hiking. But today we decided to do take-out again. We tried to order online from an Indian restaurant but it didn't work, so we just headed to town to see if we could find anything open. It was cold and windy (as usual!) but what hit me most was how forlorn all of Sandnes was. It wasn't even 6 PM yet no stores were open, Bystasjonen was closed, there were hardly any people to be seen and those that were out were hugging their coats around them and hurting to where ever they were going. Paper and dry leaves were blowing around and the whole scene just screamed of loneliness and abandon.
We finally found the thai restaurant Lill Bangkok which was only open for take-away and ordered meal there. While waiting for the food we took a quick walk in Sanvedparken.

Day 13
Another day of work ended and we literally jumped into hiking clothes and headed out. Today we parked at Noradalen Bygdahus.
We headed to Øykjafjellet. The first part of the hike we passed Novafjell where there were people climbing. It looked like a nice wall, but way to cold to climd in my opinion. We walked along some fields and the smell of springtime fertilizer made of manure that has been ripening all winter was strong and, in a strange way, somewhat pleasant.

This was definitely one of the better hikes we have found so far. You gotta love Sandnes. The views are so beautiful from all the mountain tops around here. We could see out over Lutsivatnet and it was beautiful.
On the way back we went towards Alsvik just far enough to walk around Høgås. That is a hill on the other side of the lake, Nordlandstjørna. The trail didn't go all the way around Høgås, so we had to cross a field (freshly sprayed with manure) and climb a fence to get back on the trail again.

My 60th birthday
This was destined to be the strangest birthday I ever had, but it turned out to be a delightful day. It couldn't have started any better than seeing Thomas and Linda on FaceTime orchestrated by Knut.

After work I had planned on going for a walk with Wenche and Kjell, but Knut told me they cancelled because Andre and his girlfriend had decided to come over for dinner. So I was ready for a hike, but Knut just sat there looking at his phone while I was ready to go, then suddenly a gang arrived in our yard.
Jone, Olaug, Njål, Anne Marie, Helene og Bjørn arrived with champagne, balloons, flags, a banner, songs and gifts ! It was unexpected and delightful. It was great to see them and after so many days "alone" it was wonderful to just talk to good friends again. We all stood outside in the cold wind but luckily there was no rain. We drank champis and chatted, laughed and smiled for at least an hour before they headed home again. This snap says it all.
No sooner had we warmed up inside when the doorbell rang once again, this time Per and Siren stood there with more champagne, flowers and song! Trym had dropped them off and would pick them up in an hour. So we sat in the krånå with the heater and lights on, blankets over us and had more champagne.

Just when I thought the day was over, Jorunn shows up at my door, singing, dancing and carrying a bouquet of lilac coloured roses. For one of the strangest birthdays ever, it turned out to be a delightful day. I have some amazing friends!

Day 15
The work day ended without too much drama and we got ready to meet Wenche and Kjell for a walk along Orrestrand. It was a windy and cold day, but a beautiful walk. The beaches in this area are just as lovely as the mountains.

Day 16
It's good I kept track of our hikes in a small note on my phone, but what we did other than hike isn't easy to remember. About this time Knut decided to try his hand at making sour dough starter so now there is a bowl of bubbling flour on the countertop.
Today we parked at the beach by Tengesdalsvatn and went to Undeknuten. It's about 6 1/2 km long and it starts on a gravel road. The climb to the top is somewhat rocky and steep. It was, as usual, lovely.
On the windy way up, we did find a warm corner with sunshine to eat out lunch.

Day 17
Simply no idea what we did today. It probably rained. This must be the day Knut planted Jerusalem artichoke (jordskokk) we got from Tore and Jorunn while I scrubbed the ones we were to eat clean of mud.

Day 18
After work today, we really got a taste for the area around Tegnsdalsvatent, so this time we parked at Veraland and went to Husafjell and Dyrafjell. It was a nice day, some clouds but lots of sunshine in-between. After Dyrafjellet we had a long round up Svedalen and it was so pretty. Knut rememberers walking here as a kid, I relived nice memories of a hike here with Thomas when he was in high school.
It was Knut's turn to snap today and he did a great job. So many nice pictures.
Beautiful view

Day 19
I have no notes for today either. I believe we had take-away again, this time from Saba Sushi. I also stopped by Palle to pick up some flowers for Arnlaug. I also went shopping for her and for us. I had to go to 5 different stores to find whole wheat flour and yeast. People are hoarding.
