On Saturday Knut and I were on our own or most of the day. We headed over to Westminster Abbey and planned on walking along the Thames down to The Tower of London where we took the tube back home. While walking around Westminster Abbey, we were 'adopted' by a caretaker there who gave us a privat tour of the whole area for about two hours. His name was Malcom, and he had hundreds of stories to tell. Lots of history, lots og obscure and little known facts (or fibs as the case might be) and lots of dirty jokes!
He was lots of fun and after a cup of tea at a cafe by the river we said goodbye. What an experience!
That evening we went to eat out at Maze, a Gordon Ramsey restaurant and it was very good. A delicious 7 course meal that was a real treat.
On Saturday, Jenni took Knut and I to an open air market where we could have walked all day long. There was everything under the sun for sale. After that we went to the most amazing food store I've ever seen. I'm afraid I can't remember the name now, but if you can imaging a department store for food, that's what this was. The Macy's of food. We could also have wandered around there for hours, but we managed to control ourselves. We bought fish and vegetables for dinner that evening, but we had to hurry home as we had a football (soccer) game to attend.
Trent had managed to get us 4 tickets to White Hart Lane to see the Tottenham Hotspurs play Middlesbrough. I was very excited as I'd never been to an English game before. It was very fun to be there and experience the atmosphere at a game like that. The game ended 1 - 1, but Middlesbrough made both goals! Oh well.
That evening we made a great dinner with all the goodies bought during the day. Check out the fish!
Sunday came too fast but we got in some good sightseeing before catching the plane home that evening. First, Jenni made a great big english breakfast for us.
It was yummy and lasted for hours! Then the four of us went to the National Gallery. That place demands several hours of attention, preferably spread out over several days but we only had an hour or so to get a taste of it. After that a visit to a great tea house where we did some shopping for gifts and goodies. The day was topped off by a delightful dinner at a local neighborhood pub.
What a lot of new and fun things we experienced that weekend. Thank-you so much to Jenni and trent for being such good hosts!

PS - one more thing, I promised Jenni a picture of the tree they sent us. Here it is.

Thanks for that too ;)
