This is what it looked like before we started, just after we emptied everything out.
We'll miss the quaint pull-out table
And the old-fashioned pantry. Note the corner of the pantry door. It was cut like that to make room for the drain.
After day one they had removed most of the old cupboards
By the end of day two they had torn out the pantry and taken down the wall
Here they are supporting the floor while they reinforce the ceiling beams
Here was where the piano was just two days ago!
Now the floor is out and you can see the super wide foundation, made only of stones
Here, the drain came into the room because of the wide foundation
And we wondered where the mice came in!
Now they have moved the drain to the corner and sank it into the foundation
Here you see how the ceiling is reinforced. It's also nice to see that the bathroom we did ourselves 20 years ago shows no sign of leakage!
They have sunk the floorboards into the beams, giving a bit more space for pouring a floor and installing heating cables.

Hey Calvin has remained! Did you ask for a "Hobbes" friendly quote when looking for a contractor? :)
