Thomas and Linda come with us and it was delightful to have so much time with them. We arrived in Minneapolis and Patti was faithfully there to meet us. It's always so wonderful to see her at the airport waiting for us and knowing all the wonderful meals and Robroys that are awaiting us.

We spent the night with Patti and Cornell, eating a great dinner on the deck and catching up on all the happenings during the past year. The following day Debbie and Larry invited us out for boat ride on Lake Minnetonka. It was a warm beautiful day and we had a grand time with them. Afterwards we had coffee and ice-cream at their lovely home by the lake. What a treat!

Then we borrowed their Honda to drive up to Bruno to see Mom and Dad. The Farm is looking as good as ever and what with all the rain they've had this summer it was a lush and green experience. Mom and Dad are looking so good. The garden was overflowing with fresh vegetables and we ate our fill of fresh corn (yes, ripe in the middle of July. Dad is amazing) beans, carrots, onions, berries, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and more.

Of course with all the fresh vegetables and a freezer filled with venison we ate like kings every day.
Mom spoiled us rotten with delicious fresh pies.

The days were spent helping Dad spray the prairie grass fields,

taking long walks deep into the beautiful woods, driving the four-wheeler around,
cutting the grass, making and eating good food and playing cribbage. Mom would rather play cribbage than eat so we got in several games.

The first weekend we went to Hastings for Tali's baby shower. It was wonderful to see her, Carolyn and Darcy. Tali was looking great and really looking forward to the baby. Little Jacob was born on August 27th. So now the Rath family has it's first great-grandchild. The whole family is so happy for the new Keene family.

Soon after that Carolyn and Tali come up for the day. It was so nice to see them when we had time to talk and relax. Like last time I was home, Carolyn and I spent a few hours picking blueberries at Greg and Linda Kvasnickas. We always have such a nice time talking and catching up.
I was so lucky to see Mike Miller, Larry Johnson and Chris Johnson from high school. I found them on Facebook this past year after not hearing from them for over 25 years. They drove up from the cities for an afternoon. Talk about a blast from the past. It was wonderful to see them and see that they all were doing so well. Thanks you three for coming up!
Knut and Thomas went with Grandpa to a Rath family reunion in Wisconsin. They spent the night at Doris' in Antigo where they were lucky enough to see Lynn, Dwain and Mary. They were only gone two days, but managed to cover several hundred miles with almost 8 hours in the car each day. In the meanwhile Mom, Linda and I stayed home teaching linda to sew! How fun having the sewing machine on the kitchen table and cutting and sewing and talking.
The last week was spent in the Boundary Waters with Patti and Cornell (see previous blog) It was a wonderful trip. After the BWCA trip we had just 2 days at the Farm left to pack and get in the last yummy meals, games of cribbage and walks in the woods.
Then it was back to Minnetonka where Patti and Cornell treated us to a wonderful show and dinner at the new Guthrie. It was a great evening with super seafood at the restaurant at the Guthrie and the show, The Scottsboro Boys, was amazing. Our last evening there Patti made some amazing meals for us, her cooking can't be beat. We even had delicious tacos before catching the plane home again.
The vacation ended all to soon, but we had a wonderful time. Thank you everyone for another wonderful trip to Minnesota.
