Top Ten 2007

Once again, Linda, Thomas and I have been to the top of Hanafjell and talked about the highlights of the year gone by. We have done this every year for many years now and it gives us chance to look over the past and really be thankful for all the good times we have.

As the kids get older, it gets harder to find a half hour on new years eve to walk up the 305 steps to the top of Hanafjell where we sit at my favorite nearby look-out spot and talk about the past year. Some years we take hot chocolate and cookies with us. In 2000 we even had a "Year 2000" candle which I had received from my Portuguese family. Sometimes it's raining and blowing, other years there is snow. Most of the time it's quite cold and we almost always get too cold and hurry back to our warm little house to thaw out.

This year we combined our little trip with a visit to Bjørn and Arnlaug who live on the other side of Hanafjell. So we drove first to Bjørn and Arnlaug's then drove over to the soccer field at the top of Hanafjell and walked the 50 short steps to the look-out point without the strenuous but invigorating walk up 305 steps. Enough of my rambling, here it is:

Thomas:

1. The hike with Eivind and Magnus this summer. It rained during the whole hike and they were soaked when they came home. Still, it's number one.
2. The week we spent together at Papirflys cabin in Tregde. Each kid brought a friend and the 6 of us had a great week together. Here's our blogg from Tregde.
3. Christmas.
4. Easter at Bykle where we took several long cross country trips and stayed at a great hotel in Bykle.
5. Our 6 day hike through Rondane national park this summer.
6. Going to England for Jenni and Trent's wedding.
7. The release of the final Harry Potter book; The Deathly Hallows.
8. Our road trip to Sweden this summer to visit Jorunn, Johan, Hanna and Frida in Gävle.
9. Watching our local soccer team, Viking do so well this year.
10. The trip to London with his piano teacher, Berit and other students to play at the Norwegian Sjømannskirke.

Linda:

1. Our 6 day hike through Rondane national park this summer.
2. Working one week at Ivar Skei music store in Sandnes for a school project.
3. Our road trip to Sweden this summer to visit Jorunn, Johan, Hanna and Frida in Gävle.
4. The week we spent together at Papirflys cabin in Tregde. Each kid brought a friend and the 6 of us had a great week together. Here's our blogg from Tregde.

Mommy:

1. Christmas eve with Bjørn, Arnlaug and Jorunn. It was a wonderful evening together, just the 7 of us.
   
2. My trip to Minnesota this November.
3. Our visitors this Christmas. Patti, Cornell, Ryan and Gabriella filled our days between Christmas and early January.
